Personality:: Having migrated from the Crystal Kingdom it’s safest to assume that Glasgow is still suffering from a small case of culture shock. The young jewelry maker is intensely curious about his surroundings, always eager to inspect a new element wherever it might arise but simultaneously.

His inquisitive nature often urges him to venture beyond his levels of comfort which can be cutely interesting to observe considering Glasgow is a rather timid stallion. His shyness, while not drastically hindering, can prove a trial to circumvent. He isn’t accustomed to the novelty of his new environment and is genuinely afraid that those who inhabit Equestria will not be kind to him. It is a baseless fear but he cannot rationalize it despite its lack of validation. It is difficult for him to speak to others as one might imagine. Though always the courteous colt, Glasgow’s diffidence causes him to stutter endlessly which others may or may not find annoying. He is also easily startled by things be they loud noises or something unexpected such as physical contact.

The only instances where his confidence isn’t so easily shaken is when he is doing something that he loves – the forerunning occupier of this category being his jewelry making. Using glass to create small, wearable works of art and then seeing said pieces enjoyed by others brings him an immense sense of pride and usefulness. If ever asked about his items he will readily answer all questions, detailing the process excitedly and all but forgetting his reservations.

History:: Glasgow, like many of the Crystal ponies, was one of the hundreds who suffered under the despotic monarch King Sombra. Made to harvest the crystals that gave their empire it’s name the enslavement an ill treatment had siphoned away a once happy and freethinking individual’s strength, reducing him to a mere shadow of his former self. The only relief to be had came when the empire was cursed; physically removed from Gaia and putting the crystal ponies in a state of suspended animation where they could neither think nor speak nor feel. Time became a nonissue in this wavering sense of limbo but he, like the rest of his kin, wouldn’t know of their plight or the duration of time spent under such conditions.

A thousand years passed before the empire returned and with it the residents. He couldn’t understand the changes as to be expected and fear from the abuse he had endured pushed him to seek his home more where he and his grandparents lived above their workshop though he did not remain there as long as he might’ve liked.

With their return came too came the Crystal Princess, Cadance and, by extension, the Crystal Prince Shining Armor. They struggled to unite the broken kingdom and found themselves similarly under attack by the dictator whom they feared. All of this was resolved by the elements of harmony and a dragon that salvaged their crystal heart celebration and brought true freedom back to them. But not all recovered as quickly as others – Glasgow included.

The emotional scarring from his enslavement never truly left him but he was willing to be coaxed from his room to be with his grandparents. His birth parents were a mystery to him as he had never been given the privilege of meeting them, an orphan who had been adopted by the sweet elderly couple many years before. They were glassmakers, using their skills to create everything from windows to cups to sculptures and he quickly followed suit. It was how he had achieved his cutiemark when he had realized he had an eye for beauty and would render his passion in the form of jewelry and trinkets to be worn.

The work in the shop was hard but familiar, a balm to his battered soul and he fully embraced being able to do something of his own volition rather than demand. After two years however he still did not feel wholly comfortable in the restored empire, seeing too many shadows in the home he’d loved beyond measure. He made a decision, after much deliberation, to relocate to The Crossing where he would open his own business and hopefully put his memories behind him.
